CAMARILLO — A man robbed a Washington Mutual Bank branch of an undisclosed amount of money Wednesday afternoon and fled on foot, authorities said.
The robbery occurred about 5:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of Ponderosa Drive, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. No one was injured and by late Wednesday, there were no arrests.
According to authorities, the man handed a teller a note demanding money and indicated he had a gun in his jacket pocket.
Deputies searched the streets around the bank for more than two hours. They were unable to use a helicopter because of foggy weather. Authorities did not provide a complete description of the suspect.
The holdup was the fifth bank robbery in the county this year and the second at a Washington Mutual branch in about a month, authorities said.
Two men were arrested after a takeover robbery Feb. 20 at a Washington Mutual on East Esplanade Drive in Oxnard. A third man is sought in that case.
