Juvenile Is Held After School Fire in Inglewood
- Share via
Inglewood school police arrested a juvenile Sunday afternoon just minutes after a fire was set that severely damaged a classroom at Crozier Middle School.
Police would not reveal the juvenile’s name or age, nor say whether he is a student at Crozier. The fire has been ruled an arson.
The school will be open today, police said.
About 50 firefighters responded to the school on North Grevillea Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Ten minutes later, a school police officer arrested the juvenile outside the school. He was being questioned late Sunday and had not been charged.
By 2:15 p.m., the fire had been put out, Los Angeles County fire Inspector Mike Brown said.
The fire started in a classroom and spread through the attic space. Three adjacent classrooms suffered water and lesser fire damage, Brown said.
