Marines Deny Move to Replace Ospreys

The Marine Corps’ top general denied a report that the corps was seeking an alternative to its troubled $40-billion MV-22 Osprey program.
Gen. James Jones said in a written statement that the hybrid helicopter/fixed wing aircraft remained “the program of choice” for the service to replace aging Vietnam War-era troop transport helicopters.
Two MV-22s crashed last year, killing 23 Marines, and the program is now being reviewed by the Pentagon.
