Street Repair Policy to Be Considered
Ventura County supervisors on Tuesday will consider making it easier to repair sidewalks, curbs and gutters in unincorporated areas that are surrounded by urban neighborhoods.
The change was suggested by board Chairman Frank Schillo of Thousand Oaks, who said the unincorporated Casa Conejo neighborhood in Newbury Park contrasts sharply with surrounding city streets.
Under existing policy, repairs to sidewalks and curbs are left up to individual homeowners, Schillo said.
Schillo said the cost of the work can be covered by federal grants. Other communities that could benefit include El Rio, north of Oxnard, and Montalvo in east Ventura.
