Two men were killed Wednesday when a 51-car Union Pacific freight train collided with their pickup truck, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies said the truck was stuck on a rail crossing on Avenue J next to Sierra Highway when the train, traveling north at 50 mph, smashed into it.
The driver and passenger in the pickup have not been identified by authorities. No one was injured on the train, which had minor damage, said Sheriff’s Sgt. William Hindman.
