President Bush, accompanied by his parents and his brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, saw the first home runs of the White House T-ball series at the South Lawn ball field.
Tevin Devon Poole, 8, playing for the Fort Lincoln Brewers of Washington, D.C., lofted a shot that soared over the center field fence 110 feet from home plate.
“It was the best time in my life, when I hit that home run,” Poole said as he gave a round of post-game interviews like a pro.
Diamante Ross, playing for the Benning Park Pirates of Washington, later answered with his own homer.
It was the second T-ball game at the White House in a series inaugurated May 6 by the president.
