William Adamyan of Glendale College remained undefeated in his professional boxing career, scoring a six-round unanimous decision over Lavelle Nichols of San Bernardino in a junior-welterweight bout Thursday night at the Sequoia Conference Center in Buena Park.
Operating with a three-inch height disadvantage and fighting six rounds for the first time, Adamyan (4-0) sustained a cut to his forehead in the second round and a bloody nose in the fourth.
Adamyan, 19, was able to slow Nichols (2-1) with a series of body shots, hurting him on several occasions. There were no knockdowns.
“He stepped up to the task,” manager Ron Williams said. “He didn’t do a lot of pressure because this was the first time he fought a guy who was that much taller than him so he was a little leery of going in under the punches.”
Williams said Adamyan has accepted a fight in Fresno on July 29 against an undetermined opponent. It will be televised by ESPN.
