Gunmen ambushed Macedonia’s interior minister, spraying his convoy with bullets as he was on his way to visit returning refugees. No one was injured.
The attack occurred on the highway linking Skopje, the capital, to Tetovo. The convoy, which was carrying Interior Minister Ljube Boskovski and journalists for state-run television, was about 15 miles west of Skopje when gunfire came from both sides of the highway.
Boskovski’s car evaded the gunmen. His guards exchanged fire with them for about five minutes, according to state-run TV.
