Drew McAthy

McAthy scored three goals and had an assist as the previously seventh-ranked Oilers defeated then-No. 8 Esperanza, 4-0, Friday. McAthy assisted on Joel Murphy’s goal 10 minutes into the game and then
scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half and one in the opening minutes of the second half. On Wednesday, McAthy scored the winning goal in overtime as Huntington Beach defeated Marina, 1-0.

over Capistrano Valley. The teams
came into the game tied for No. 1 in the county poll. Billingsley
was awarded the penalty shot after a hand ball by a Cougar defender in the box. It was Mission Viejo’s first league victory over Capistrano Valley in more than two years and gave the Diablos sole possession of first place.
