Darci Gwartz
El Dorado, Soccer
Gwartz, playing at center midfield, scored the winning goal in overtime and had an assist as El Dorado upset third-seeded Woodbridge, 3-2, in the first round of the Southern Section Division II girls’ soccer playoffs. Gwartz, a sophomore, scored the game-winner five minutes into overtime on a header off a free kick by Stacy Ellingson. El Dorado goalkeeper Tawyna Patino had 13 saves to secure the victory.

Foothill, Basketball
Had 45 points and 20 rebounds in first-round victory, and 34 points and 15 rebounds in second-round loss.

Marina, Water Polo
Scored three goals in the Vikings’ 7-4 victory over Irvine in the first round of the Division I playoffs.
Jason Garey
University, Basketball
Garey made 11 three-pointers and scored 33 points for host University, which defeated Palmdale, 84-65, in the first round of the Southern Section Division II-A boys’ basketball playoffs. Garey has made 139 three-pointers this season, breaking the Orange County single-season record of 131 set by Mater Dei’s Clay McKnight in the 1994-95 season. Garey also tied the county record for three-pointers in a game.

Santa Ana, Wrestling
Defeated defending state champion Chris Lopez for Division II title at 189 pounds, and helped clinch team title.
* Kyle Warsinski
Sonora, Soccer
Had two goals and an assist in 4-0 victory over Hacienda Heights Los Altos in first round of Division III playoffs.
