Re “Sound Wall Projects Remain a Far-Off Dream for Residents,” Feb. 5: I sympathize with the people in this article who need a sound wall. I have the same problem. I live next to the Santa Monica Freeway, at Overland Avenue and National Boulevard in West Los Angeles--only I have been waiting for 30-plus years. I lived here before the freeway existed and was promised a wall when the funding became available. I too have only a chain-link fence between me and the freeway.
I have registered numerous requests to Marta Maestas, project manager for the MTA sound walls program. I feel that the residents who have suffered for over 30 years should be given priority over those waiting 10 years. Why are the projects on the 10-year list given priority, and when are we going to get our wall?
