Santa Clara 74, Loyola Marymount 66--Jamie Holmes scored a career-high 26 points at Santa Clara as the Broncos defeated the Lions for the sixth time in a row.
Kyle Bailey added 13 points, all in the first half, as Santa Clara (14-10, 6-3 in the WCC) took a 33-27 lead.
Marcus Smith led Loyola Marymount (7-15, 3-6) with 13 points. Robert Davis and Tyler McClenahan each added 10 points and Pablo Machado grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Brian Jones, who scored 14 points, became Santa Clara’s all-time leader in games started at 108, breaking a tie with Kurt Rambis. He also recorded three assists to move into a second-place tie with Eddie Joe Chavez, 22 behind leader Steve Nash.
Loyola tied the score at 58 when Davis made a jump shot with 3:46 left, but Holmes came back with a three-point basket and Jones converted a three-point play to put the Broncos back on top.
