A memorial service for Michelle King of Fountain Valley, who was shot and killed Monday by her police officer husband, will be held today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fountain Valley.
Bishop Tim Miller, who served as King’s spiritual leader at the Mormon church, said King’s friends have also set up a trust fund for her five children.
“So many people are calling and asking if there’s anything they can do,” Miller said.
On Monday morning, Anaheim Police Officer Joseph Bailey shot and killed King and then himself inside their modest home on La Marquesa Avenue.
Friends and neighbors remain baffled by the violence.
“The police are doing a lot of work on that. I assume the only two people who would really know are gone,” Miller said.
According to Fountain Valley police, the investigation is ongoing but no new information about the motive is available.
The memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Mormon church at the intersection of Bushard Street and Slater Avenue. The public is welcome.
Miller said the trust fund is exclusively for King’s children. Contributions may be made to Beneficial Trust for the Children of Michelle King, P.O. Box 8644, Fountain Valley, CA 92728.
