Natalie Sanderson and Lisa Engel each had three goals and Buena High allowed Crescenta Valley only three shots on goal in a 7-0 nonleague victory Saturday at Buena.
The Bulldogs (21-2-2), ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, beat Crescenta Valley, 2-1, last year.
This time they opened a 3-0 halftime lead.
“[Buena] is the best high school team I have ever seen in my life,” Coach Reggie Rivas of Crescenta Valley said. “They play like a college team. It’s like trying to compete with a Division II or a Division III team.”
The Falcons (16-5-1), who graduated seven players, started seven sophomores and a senior.
Sanderson has 31 goals this season and 121 in her career.
The Bulldogs played without goalkeeper Currie Hunt. She was involved in a minor traffic accident before the game.
Coach Trish Butterbaugh said Hunt was not injured and is not expected to miss any more games.
Sophomore Amelia Waltz replaced her and made three saves.
