Recycling Programs Help Residents Do More

Residents are recycling at higher rates thanks to programs that accept everything from pizza boxes to demolition debris. Officials said Tuesday that 46% of the city’s trash was recycled last year, up from 42% in 1999.
Officials attribute the jump to programs for homes and businesses that turn food waste into compost and find new uses for construction debris.
