Man Pleads No Contest in Death of Burned Teen

A Saugus man pleaded no contest Friday to manslaughter and drunk driving in an auto crash this spring that killed Nolan LeMar, the Castaic teenager who had been severely burned in a 1998 science experiment.
Michael Charles Glover, 45, could face five years in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. His sentencing is set for Feb. 5 in San Fernando Superior Court.
On April 9, Glover lost control of his truck near the Saugus Speedway, crossed the center median and slammed into LeMar’s car, killing the 19-year-old, authorities said. Glover’s back and ribs were broken.
LeMar was one of two students seriously injured when a November 1998 science experiment caused an explosion at Hart High School in Newhall. More than 12% of his body was burned.
