A U.S.-born 6-year-old boy who was taken by his Cuban-born mother to the communist island nine months ago without his father’s permission flew back to Miami and a reunion with the father who had wanted him home.
Jonathan Colombini and his mother, Arletis Blanco, flew back to Miami on a flight from Havana. Blanco, who was indicted in February on charges of international parental kidnapping, was taken into federal custody.
Jon Colombini visited Cuba several times over the last nine months to see his son and try to persuade his former wife to return the boy.
The parents had joint custody of the boy before Blanco decided to return to Cuba on Nov. 12.
