Much as I have no desire to go to Russia, your Aug. 4 piece on Mt. Elbrus (“Ice Queen Demands Respect at Each Step”) makes me want to see this gorgeous femme fatale. Maura Reynolds’ description of the mountains is lyrically beautiful. Not only can I visualize the towering mountains, I can hear the deafening roar of the wind and feel its icy blasts. Thank you for this thrilling read. Russia, here I come--maybe.
