Removing the Swing in Old Swinging Door
Do you have a door that won’t stay open, like the swinging door at an old saloon? One that closes before you’re in and hits you on the way out?
It’s a nuisance, but one you can easily fix. Probably the old ranch house has settled and a doorjamb is out of whack, causing doors to swing and bang around.
Just get a blade screwdriver and a hammer and tap out the center hinge pin. Lay it down on something hard, like concrete, and give it a few good taps until it bends just a bit in the middle, then tap it back into the hinge. The bend causes just enough friction to put your door in its place and keep it there.
