GORMAN — A school bus driver was killed Monday when her bus hit the center divider of the Golden State Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened about 1 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway south of Gorman School Road. There were no students on the bus, said Officer Grant Vaughn of the CHP’s Fort Tejon office.
The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
She apparently lost control of the bus, which skidded across several lanes, crashing into a pickup truck parked near the center divider and then into the divider. She was ejected from the bus and hit by a big-rig, Vaughn said.
The road was wet from snow but snow was not falling at the time, he said.
