Yorba Linda Teen Honored: Sharanya Mukhopadhyay, 13, of Yorba Linda, received a 2000 Princess Grace Dance Fellowship Award on Monday in New York City. The award, approximately $5,000, will allow the young dancer to continue her already impressive career as an exponent of the Odissi classical style of eastern India at the Odissi Dance Circle, based in Cerritos. Sharanya was one of two young dancers to receive awards in the newly created Indian dance category. She is the first Odissi dancer and the youngest California artist to receive one of the awards, given annually since 1984 to identify and nurture young talent in theater, dance and film.
