Cryin’ Time

Thank you to Susan Spano for the Her World article “When Tears--of Joy or Sorrow--Mark Memorable Parts of a Woman’s Journey” (Sept. 3).
Books and movies may bring me to tears, but I don’t usually get emotional over buildings. However, the first time I stepped into the stained-glass-encrusted Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, the winter sun made the whole room glow, and my eyes, of course, began to tear.
I was fortunate enough to guide my sister and cousin there a couple of years ago. I made sure I mounted the stairs far enough ahead of them so that I could turn around and see their faces as they first encountered the same jewel.

I read your article on women being moved to tears when they are traveling and cried my way through the article. I related to your examples and was reminded of moving moments of my own. Anyway, thanks for the good cry.
