Amster: A person who tries to drum up business outside a sideshow. “Amsterdam ram” is a British expression for the same type of showman.
Proper usage: “With all these tourists in Sydney, the amsters are out in force.”
Improper usage: “Oh, no! I’ve been in Sydney for two weeks and I forgot to feed my amster!”
