Glendale 24, Valley 14--Jamel Applewhite rushed for three touchdowns and the Vaqueros held Valley to 137 yards at Glendale High.
Applewhite finished with 74 yards in 24 carries, including a two-yard touchdown run that gave Glendale (2-2, 1-1) a 21-14 lead with 12:33 left to play. He also had scoring runs of four yards and one yard.
Seth Santoro kicked a 22-yard field goalwith 3:07 left. He also completed six of 13 passes for 77 yards, and Joseph Kroells completed all seven of his passes for 84 yards for Glendale.
Defensive back Dennis Butler intercepted two passes, returning one 15 yards for a touchdown that gave the Monarchs (1-3, 1-1) a 14-7 lead in the third quarter.
