Birmingham Kicked Out of Playoffs

The City Section removed Birmingham High from the City Invitational baseball playoffs Tuesday after it was discovered freshman pitcher Junior Garcia played in a weekend semi-pro league game two weeks ago.
High school players are not allowed to play in outside leagues during the season. The school self-reported the violation. Birmingham was scheduled to play Monroe in a quarterfinal on Tuesday. Narbonne, which lost to Birmingham last Friday, will play at Monroe at 3 p.m. today.
