Placentia-Yorba Linda school board members on Tuesday identified main goals for next year, including building new schools, communicating better with the community and establishing magnet schools. The most important challenge facing the school district is coming up with a plan to construct new school buildings, and to make additions to existing facilities, said Craig Olson, board president. Members agreed to discuss the issues again in July, once Dennis Smith assumes his post as the new superintendent to replace James O. Fleming, who is retiring.
