The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an increase in trash collection rates of 30 cents, caused by the large volume and weight of residential refuse generated in the city, and because of the increased cost of fuel. Effective July 1, the basic residential trash hauling rates will increase from $14.96 to $15.26. Commercial rates will increase an average of 3.4%.
