Fountain Valley’s King Again Beats Canyon Springs

Natalie King gave up only two hits over 13 innings, struck out 23 and scored the winning run Tuesday in Fountain Valley’s 1-0 victory over Moreno Valley Canyon Springs in the second round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs.
King, a senior, pitched a 13-inning no-hitter in last year’s quarterfinal round against Canyon Springs, a game in which she struck out 24.
As she did last year, King scored the winning run on Christina Skaggs’ RBI single.
King doubled to lead off top of the 13th, and took third on Tiffani Miller’s bunt. Miller was safe on the play, and Nicole Rambis lined out to first. Skaggs, who had two hits, then singled home King.
The victory set up a third game this season between Fountain Valley (24-8) and third-seeded Foothill (30-2).
