The City Council pledged $250,000 to help South County Senior Services to apply for funding from the federal government to build low-income senior housing inside city limits.
In order for South County Senior Services to receive funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the project, it must be able to show that additional funds are available from local sources.
City Manager Leslie Keane said the senior organization would normally receive funding for this type of project from the county, but it was unable to complete the process before the deadline.
