The Cal State Northridge athletic department has received $100,000 to help renovate the campus training and weight room facilities.
About 80% of the donation by Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center was cash while the remainder will be in medical services provided for student athletes, university administrators said. The gift will help create a modernized and expanded training facility that includes a weight room and locker rooms. The 10,000-square-foot facility, which will cost about $400,000, is due to be completed in early August.
Assistant Athletic Director Rhonda Hyatt said the new site will be comparable to other Division I schools known for their athletic programs.
