Re “The Dilemma of Diabetes,” March 15: What needs to occur is universal legislation for assisted school management of diabetes for both public and private school-aged children. We must manage our preschool-aged son’s diabetes quite gingerly with reluctant private-school personnel who aren’t mandated by law to provide blood testing and insulin administration so that the best result occurs on a daily basis.

Mandating diabetes co-management by all school systems would ensure the best possible care for all affected children and better alleviate the daily parental stress of wondering if it’s occurring, attempting cooperation and hoping that it is.
