The UCLA-bound McKinley scored 29 goals and had 17 assists and played in the county’s toughest league. The Sunset League’s most valuable player, McKinley led the Barons to the league title and the Southern Section Division I semifinals.

A first-team selection for the second consecutive year, Cid broke his own school scoring record with 35 goals. But he was more than just a scorer, adding 23 assists and helping lead the Golden Hawks to their fourth straight Empire League title.

Matt Taylor

IRVINE FORWARD SR.

Taylor, who is headed to UCLA, scored 38 goals and had six assists in only 19 games. The Sea View League’s most valuable player has been invited to try out for the national under-20 team, and led the Vaqueros to their first league title in 17 years.

Sebastian Galmarini

SANTA MARGARITA FORWARD SR.

Galmarini, a second-team choice last year, had 21 goals and 10 assists for the four-time Division III champions. A UC Irvine signee, Galmarini was named first-team All-Southern Section Division III and first-team all-league for a second consecutive year.

Spencer George

SANTA MARGARITA MIDFIELDER SR.

George, a repeat first-team pick, capped a tremendous high school career with a fourth Southern Section Division III title and Division III MVP honors. He scored 21 goals--more than doubling last year’s total--and had a county-high 28 assists.

Kevin Novak

MATER DEI MIDFIELDER SR.

The defensive MVP of the Serra League, Novak scored a team-high 20 goals and added 16 assists for the Monarchs, who won 27 games and were co-champions of Division II. He was an All-Southern Section Division II selection.

Drew McAthy

HUNTINGTON BEACH MIDFIELDER JR.

A second-team selection last year as a defender, McAthy turned into a scorer this season, leading the Oilers with 18 goals and 14 assists. The MVP of the Marina tournament, McAthy helped Huntington Beach to the county’s No. 4 ranking.

Jeff Kunze

EDISON DEFENDER SR.

A steady, calming influence in the back, Kunze helped lead the Chargers to the Division II final, where they tied Mater Dei. Kunze, a repeat first-team selection, won his second consecutive Sunset League defensive MVP award.

Rawlston Masaniai

MATER DEI DEFENDER JR.

*--*

A smooth and unflappable force in the back, Masaniai was a big reason the Monarchs shut out 16 opponents. Expected to be one of the county’s most heavily recruited players next year, Masaniai was named first-team All-Southern Section Division II.

Nick Schwab

HUNTINGTON BEACH DEFENDER SR.

A big, physical defender who excelled in the air, Schwab was named to the Sunset League’s first team for the second year in a row. He scored a goal in the Oilers’ 3-1 victory over Mater Dei in the Marina tournament final.

Cameron Rossi

EL TORO GOALKEEPER SR.

*--*

A first-team All-South Coast League pick, Rossi recorded 11 shutouts in 21 games for the Chargers, who reached the second round of the Division I playoffs. He allowed only 13 goals--four of which came on penalty kicks.

SECOND TEAM

DANNY COLLINS, Edison, Forward, Sr.

A first-team All-Sunset League selection, Collins scored 17 goals and had seven assists for Southern Section Division II finalist.

CESAR TERRONES, Estancia, Forward, Sr.

The co-MVP of Pacific Coast League with Esaul Mendoza, Terrones scored 34 goals and had 14 assists. He finished his four-year career with more than 100 goals.

CARLOS NAVA, Santa Ana, Forward, Sr.

The Golden West League’s MVP and an all-county selection for the second time, Nava scored eight goals and had eight assists for the league champion Saints.

SEM LOPEZ, El Toro, Forward, Sr.

The MVP of the South Coast League, Lopez scored a team-high 17 goals and had four assists.

SAMMER MUDAWAR, Esperanza, Midfielder, Sr.

The Aztecs’ biggest offensive threat, Mudawar scored 10 goals and had five assists for the Division I finalists.

RYAN SULLIVAN, Esperanza, Midfielder, Sr.

Sullivan was at his best in the playoffs, scoring four of his nine goals, including one in the Aztecs’ 3-2 semifinal victory over Fountain Valley.

PIETER BERGER, Woodbridge, Midfielder, So.

The only sophomore on the first or second team, Berger led the Warriors with 14 goals and was a first-team All-Sea View League pick.

RYAN VALDEZ, El Dorado, Midfielder, Jr.

The Empire League MVP and an All-Division II selection, Valdez had 21 goals and 19 assists for the Division III semifinalist Golden Hawks.

CHRIS WIMMER, Fountain Valley, Defender, Sr.

The Barons’ captain and a first-team All-Sunset League pick, Wimmer helped goalkeeper Kyle Polak record 15 shutouts.

STEVE ADAMS, Foothill, Defender, Sr.

A second-team pick for the second year in a row, Adams led the Knights to a Century league title with eight goals and five assists.

JEFF TAYLOR, Mission Viejo, Goalkeeper, Sr.

One of the county’s most acrobatic keepers, Taylor was the South Coast League’s MVP. He had 11 shutouts and helped lead the Diablos to a league title.
