The grass-roots anti-airport campaign centered in South County breathed a sigh of relief when the ballot measure aimed at derailing the county’s plan to convert the former Marine base at El Toro passed resoundingly.
Dana Point resident Leonard Kranser, whose homeowners’ association raised more than $100,000 this year to support Measure F, credited the measure’s success to the overwhelming number of residents who rallied to support it.
“We’ve built up a people network that had volunteers checking the polls, out on the streets . . . and working in the campaign office urging people to vote,” Kranser said.
