Mary Margaret Dempsey; Camarillo Homemaker

Camarillo resident Mary Margaret Dempsey, a homemaker and volunteer, died Monday after a lengthy illness. She was 77.
She was born Jan. 19, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo., and had lived in Camarillo since 1961.
Dempsey was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish and School in Camarillo, where several years ago she served as president of the PTA. She was also involved in school and church committees.
She worked at the Camarillo Library for many years and volunteered at St. Johns Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Dempsey, in 1985.
She is survived by their sons Kevin of Redding, David of Long Beach, Tom of Redondo Beach and Denis of Camarillo; a brother, Al Wilson of Santa Barbara; sisters Shirley Guest of Saratoga and Jan Rimer of Agoura Hills; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary Magdalen’s chapel, with burial following at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, both in Camarillo. Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Camarillo Library, in care of Sandy Banks, 3100 Ponderosa Drive, Camarillo, CA 93010.
