Tests Scheduled for GATE Admission

The Ventura Unified School District will conduct tests for private school students interested in its gifted and talented education program, also known as GATE, on three Saturdays this spring.
The tests will be used to identify candidates for GATE from students in grades 3-12.
Along with the test, candidates will have to take the SAT 9 achievement test and receive a teacher recommendation.
“This test is for people who are currently attending private school and are considering attending a public school,” said Judy Smith, senior clerk at the GATE office. “It is not for students already enrolled in the program.”
District parents had the opportunity to sign up for the GATE program in the fall.
The tests are scheduled for March 18, April 15 and May 20. Morning and afternoon sessions are available with arrival times at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
There is no charge and applications are available at any Ventura Unified school. Parents will be notified of their child’s GATE qualification in July or August, and the program will begin when schools open in the fall.
For more information, contact the district’s GATE office at 652-7276.
