Detroit Blanks Ice Dogs, 1-0

DETROIT — The Long Beach Ice Dogs stumbled in their fourth game in five nights, losing to the Detroit Vipers, 1-0, Tuesday night in an International Hockey League game at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Shawn Maltby’s goal on a rebound at 10:20 of the second period was the difference for Detroit.
The Vipers benefited from a perfect debut by goalie Rich Parent, who stopped all 30 shots he faced. The Ice Dogs limited the Vipers to 11 shots in the game, including a shotless third period.
