SYLMAR — A man was fatally wounded Sunday afternoon during an argument at a home, police said.
Ray Rocha, 21, of Sylmar was shot in the chest and later died at Providence Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, authorities said. Rocha’s housemate, Johnny Ramirez, 37, was arrested in the shooting, Los Angeles Police Officer Don Cox said.
The shooting occurred about 1:45 p.m. in the 12800 block of Gladstone Avenue.
“The call came in as some kind of disturbance,” Cox said. “They responded to the location and found one male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.”
Cox said that officers responding to the residence were met by Ramirez, who told them he shot a man who was attacking his son.
But police said Rocha was shot during an argument with Ramirez over Rocha’s living in the house.
