PANORAMA CITY — A Panorama City woman was shot to death during an early-morning domestic dispute in what authorities said was Los Angeles’ first reported homicide of the new year.
Silvia Escobar, 44, died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center at 7:07 a.m., more than an hour after she and another person were shot at a home in the 14700 block of Roscoe Boulevard, authorities said.
Detectives arrested Escobar’s brother-in-law, Lucio Rodriguez, on suspicion of murder, police said. Rodriguez is being held without bail at the LAPD’s Van Nuys jail.
Police did not release additional details on the New Year’s Day shooting or Rodriguez’s relationship to the wounded victim.
