Councilman Moving Into Bigger Office

Councilman Alex Padilla is moving to a new office in Sun Valley, a modern 1,120-square-foot space that he said will provide greater access for constituents.
The Los Angeles City Council approved a 5 1/2-year lease Friday on the site at 8135 San Fernando Road. The rent is $1,275 per month, according to the Department of General Services.
Padilla, who joined the council last year, inherited his former Sun Valley office from his predecessor, Richard Alarcon, now a state senator. But the old office, in a Sunland Boulevard mini-mall, was not centrally located and had inadequate parking, said David Gershwin, Padilla’s spokesman.
The councilman closed that office in September and began hunting for a new site.
Padilla, who also maintains offices in Pacoima and Sylmar, said several of his Sun Valley constituents have remarked that he ought to upgrade the hub serving their neighborhood.
“We wanted to move to a bigger and more modern facility for the benefit of the constituents,” Padilla said.
