Bullet Hits Woman in Motel Room

An 18-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet fired through the window of her motel room Friday night, police said.
The bullet struck Cyndi Ellison, a Santa Paula resident, in her side but caused no major injuries, Ventura Police Lt. Roger Nustad said.
Ellison was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, where she was treated and released, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at the Motel 6 on Johnson Street at 10:30 p.m. Friday. Investigators believe it was gang-related, but it’s not believed Ellison was the intended target because there were several others in the room and curtains blocked the view from the outside, Nustad said. No one else was reported injured.
