The City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to name Diane Bathgate as an interim council member to fill a seat vacated by Gil Jones. Bathgate, who is a self-employed urban planner and a city planning commissioner, was selected from a pool of nine applicants based on her 10 years of experience on the commission.
“She clearly has a lot of talent, knowledge and expertise in land use,” said Councilman John Greiner.
Bathgate will serve until a special election is held Nov. 7. The position pays $300 a month and requires 15 to 20 hours of service a week.
