Sousa Scores 24 Points, Leads Woodbridge Past Westminster

Kelsi Sousa scored 24 points Friday to lead seventh-ranked Woodbridge to a 61-53 victory over Westminster in the semifinals of the Costa Mesa girls’ basketball tournament.
Lara Gray scored 14 points and Alia Stewart had eight for the Warriors (13-0), who play the winner of a game between Costa Mesa and Kirkland (Wash.) Lake Washington in tonight’s final.
Westminster (10-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Eva Camarena’s 15.
In a consolation game:
Ocean View 48, Newport Harbor 37--The Sailors fell behind by 10 in the first quarter and never got closer than nine. Junior forward Evita Castillo led Newport Harbor (2-10) with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
In semifinal games at the Garden Grove Christmas tournament:
Century 51, Magnolia 39--Elizabeth Mendoza made three three-pointers and scored 19 points for Century, which plays Kennedy in tonight’s championship game.
Magnolia was led by Mariah Mendoza with 13 points, including four three-pointers. Mendoza scored all of her points in the first half, helping Magnolia to a 24-21 lead.
Kennedy 46, Anaheim 26--Kennedy’s Kristine Seko scored 14 points and made four three-pointers, giving her 33 this season and breaking Jennifer Narita’s school record of 31 set last season.
In a consolation game:
Saddleback 58, Garden Grove 40--Junior forward Michelle McElroy had 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Saddleback.
In the championship game at the Marina tournament:
Kent (Wash.) Meridian 41, Capistrano Valley 28--Capistrano Valley led by two entering the final quarter, but was outscored, 17-2, the rest of the way. The Cougars trailed, 26-24, with 3 1/2 minutes remaining, but Lindsay Peloza fouled out and Meridian proceeded to outscore Capistrano Valley, 15-4.
In a consolation game:
Santa Ana Valley 51, South Torrance 36--Crystal Davis had 21 points and 16 rebounds and Monique Cruz had 17 points and 10 steals as Santa Ana Valley (10-5) held South Torrance without a field goal in the fourth quarter.
In pool play at the Santiago tournament:
Santiago 52, Katella 42--Evelyn Gomez had 23 points and 11 steals for the Cavaliers (9-4), who play Norco tonight for the title.
Sonora 60, El Modena 56--Brandi Davis had 27 points, 11 rebounds and six assists and Jana Hebert scored 20 points for the Raiders (11-3).
Lindsay Galasso scored a game-high 28 points and Norelle Dickson had 20 for El Modena.
In semifinal games at the Savanna tournament:
Aliso Niguel 40, Downey 25--Guard Laura Perez had 13 points for Aliso Niguel, which advanced to its third tournament final this season, against Cypress.
Cypress 42, Valencia 31--Tricia Culley scored a game-high 16 points to lead Cypress (7-5).
