Two Thousand Oaks brothers remain in custody after a robbery attempt and assault on a sheriff’s sergeant, the Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.
Rogelio Vega, 28, and Gerardo Vega, 23, allegedly attempted to rob four people outside a 7-Eleven store on Thousand Oaks Boulevard about 2 a.m. Sunday, when Sheriff’s Sgt. William Hughes saw one of them strike one of the women across the face, the department said.
After a pursuit, Hughes attempted to arrest Gerardo Vega and was hit by Rogelio Vegas, said Sgt. Larry Meyers.
Hughes was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Victims Virginia Listman, 23, of San Diego and Ian Reid, 25, of Thousand Oaks were treated at Los Robles and released. The other robbery victims, Melissa Cruz, 23, and John Aguirre, 31, both of Thousand Oaks, were not harmed.
