A Huntington Beach man was in stable condition at a local hospital Monday after allegedly being shot by his estranged wife on Christmas morning.
Police said Jerry Gabel, 62, was found about 11:40 a.m. in front of a residence in the 6100 block of Softwind Drive in Huntington Beach with a gunshot wound to his jaw.
“It does not appear to be life-threatening,” said Lt. Preston Linker, a spokesman for the Huntington Beach Police Dept.
Gabel’s estranged wife--Arlene Gabel, 66, of Henderson, Nev.--was arrested and booked at Huntington Beach Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
The sequence of events leading to the shooting is under investigation, Linker said.
