Completed the first of seven major improvement projects to Golden State Freeway corridor through the Santa Clarita Valley, repaving 17 miles of freeway between Calgrove Boulevard and Templin Highway.
Goals for 2001: Will begin $29.4-million, two-year project to replace Interstate 5 bridge over the Santa Clara River, plus widening the interchange at Magic Mountain Parkway and Route 126 with the interstate. Projects are combined with freeway widening and bridge improvements at Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway. Caltrans is providing oversight for construction of a new bridge for the Valencia overpass.
