PALMDALE — Sheriff’s deputies shot a Palmdale man who allegedly waved a fireplace poker at them Sunday morning, officers said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Norine Plett said the man, who was shot in the chest, was taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition.
Deputies were responding to a domestic violence call about 3:40 a.m. on Amalfi Drive when the man confronted them with the tool, Plett said.
“One deputy, fearing for his safety, fired one round and struck the suspect in the upper torso,” Plett said.
No officers were injured, and no charges had been filed Sunday afternoon. Plett said detectives are investigating the shooting.
