Concordia Signs Seven Men’s Soccer Players

Concordia has signed seven men’s soccer players and has received commitments from two others, Coach Greg Morales said Friday.
Those signing with the Eagles are midfielder Kyle Carroll (Santa Margarita), forward Justin Lang (El Toro), goalkeeper Ryan Hopkins (Huntington Beach), midfielder Mark Zizi (Troy), midfielder Bryce Sebastian (San Clemente), midfielder Nohn Wells (Santa Margarita) and midfielder Bret Weyer (La Habra).
Midfielders Jesse Brewer (San Marcos) and David Tankersly (Orange Lutheran) have committed to play at Concordia.
VOLLEYBALL
The United States men’s volleyball team will play at Long Beach State as part of an exhibition tour to prepare for September’s Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
The U.S., ranked fifth in the world, will play South Korea, ranked 11th, on April 14 at the Pyramid. The teams also will play April 15 at Pepperdine.
HOCKEY
The Southern California Rays will participate in the Women’s National Ice Hockey Championships Wednesday through Sunday in Troy, Mich.
The Rays, based at Disney Ice in Anaheim and coached by Dave Gnas, feature amateur players from Southern California. This is their second appearance at the national championships. They hosted the event in 1998, finishing seventh.
Also participating in the national championships will be the Huntington Beach-based California Select, who will have teams in the under-19, under-15 and under-12 age groups.
