OCC Water Polo Team Wins

Orange Coast led only one goal at halftime but scored four third-quarter goals to take control and defeat San Diego Mesa, 10-6, in a nonconference men’s water polo game at Orange Coast Wednesday.
Luke Alvarado, who had three goals, had a two-point goal in the third quarter and Jeff Pratt and Jeff Smalley also scored in the third to help the Pirates (7-3) expand a 3-2 halftime lead to 7-2.
Scott Stearns scored three goals for Mesa (10-4-1).
In South Coast Conference men’s water polo:
Golden West 22, Cerritos 6--Kevin Marsh scored six goals, including four in the first quarter, for Golden West (13-1-1, 2-0).
In nonconference women’s water polo:
Orange Coast 10, San Diego Mesa 6--Jennifer Stipp scored all three of her goals in the second quarter, when host Orange Coast (9-2, 1-0) moved ahead, 7-3.
In an Orange Empire Conference game:
Riverside 6, Cypress 3--Kim Skorupinski scored two goals for Cypress (7-5, 0-2).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s golf:
Orange Coast wins--Medalist Jennifer Tunzi of Orange Coast shot five-over 77 at Tijeras Creek. Orange Coast defeated second-place Saddleback, 328-340, in the five-way match.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Orange Coast 3, Pasadena 0--Missy Jamison had 43 assists and three aces for Orange Coast (4-3) in a 15-10, 15-10, 15-8 victory.
