Microsoft in Entertainment Initiative

Microsoft announced an initiative Wednesday at the Digital Hollywood conference in Beverly Hills to boost the creation of more video and audio entertainment in the Windows Media format for high-speed connections. To launch its Windows Media Broadband Jumpstart initiative, the company said it has signed up a group of delivery networks, access providers and content developers to support the Windows format, which is used to compress and deliver video and audio. The companies include Akamai Technologies, Sandpiper Networks, Roadrunner, Intertainer, Digital Entertainment Network and World Wrestling Federation.
