‘Blue Streak’ Outruns ‘Game’ to Finish First
The new Martin Lawrence cop comedy, “Blue Streak,” from Columbia Pictures, with $19.2 million, streaked past Kevin Costner’s baseball yarn, “For Love of the Game,” which took in $13 million for Universal, to win the weekend box-office derby.
Meanwhile, DreamWorks SKG’s critically acclaimed dark comedy “American Beauty” took in $861,531 in limited release for an impressive per-screen average of $53,846.
